I have a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Tarleton State University. I am currently the Technology Coordinator, Librarian, and I monitor  Nova Net classes, online college classes, and teach 6th Grade Technology Applications.

This summer I learned about a new website. It's http://www.shelfari.com. This is a site that allows you to "share" the books you have read, are reading, and want to read. You give a review of the book, and can have "friends" that can view your lists. It has various privacy or public settings.

I have set up an account for me on shelfari, and my plan is to read books from our school library and place a summary/review on my account. Students can view this and get an idea of what the books are about. Of course, right now, there aren't too many books on the shelf.

This can be seen as it is supposed to if you are using the Internet browser Firefox. They are still working to see if it will be able to work using Explorer.

In the Northern Hemisphere, most tornadoes twist counterclockwise. In the Southern Hemisphere, most twist clockwise.

Most tornadoes move at 35 mph but some have reached speeds as high as 70! The fastest on record on March 18, 1925 traveled at 73 mph.

Tornadoes are always violent, but strange things have happened. One picked up a crate of eggs and moved it 500 yards and placed it on ground without cracking a shell. Another picked

picked up a baby carriage with a sleeping baby and picked it up 50 feet in the air and placed it 330 feet away without hurting or waking the baby.

In 1974, during a 24 hour period 148 tornadoes slammed through the South and the Midwest.

About 800 tornadoes occur each year in the United States.  Due to Texas' size we have more tornadoes, but central Oklahoma is struck more often than anywhere else.
