About me:
Even though I was born and raised in the big city of San Antonio, I have found living in the country at Lake Cooper has been a peaceful change for me. Well, I still have several children of the female variety at home so it isn't always that peaceful! I do love living in this area, though, and especially love teaching in Newcastle. At home, I still have three beautiful daughters, Elyse, a Midwestern State University freshman (18), Briana, high school freshman extaordinare (14), and Keelie Marie, third grader (8), and my wonderful husband, K.C. (with an undisclosed age). K.C. spends his days treating water for the citizens of Olney; quite noble if I do say so myself. Both our boys have left the nest for greater independence. Our eldest, Justin, a truck driver and volunteer fireman, lives with his family, Lori, Zach, and Casey Kyle, in Marshall, TX . Brad, our youngest, and Kristen are living in Wichita Falls and both attend MSU. Hopefully next year he will be teaching history and coaching!
I graduated from Midwestern State University, myself, in December 2000 (the day after my thirtieth birthday!) with a bachelor of science in biology and minor in chemistry. SBEC graciously followed that with a composite science certification which means the state of Texas allows me to teach 6th through 12th grade science without too many repercussions. This year I will be teaching 6th and 7th grade science, Integrated Physics and Chemistry (to 8th graders), Conceptual Physics (9th), Biology (10th), Chemistry (11th graders) & Scientific Research and Design (12th). The reason I chose to teach science is because it was always my favorite subject in school (and it still is!!). I mean, really, how many classes can you catch things on fire and call it part of the curriculum?
Here's to another great year of science!
