2017 Football Season

The Newcastle Bobcats ended the 2017 campaign with a 2 game winning streak, defeating the St. Jo panthers 82-60 in the final game. The Bobcats finished the year with a 4-6 record.  The year was a season of ups and downs, and a lot of learning for the young Bobcats. The two seniors Gage Bozeman and Jason Schwartz will be missed, but the rest of the Bobcats will be returning next year to improve on this year’s record. Bobcats for the 2017 season were Juniors AJ Ford, David Gossett, Daniel Martinez, sophomores JT Spurlin, JD Brice, Lane Brice, Ethan Lyons, Jacob McMillan, Edwin Bennett, Boomer Whitaker, Freshman Luke Eli, Carter McWhorter, Ryan Maxwell, Christian Chapla.


All District Selections for the Bobcats were JD Brice First Team Runningback, Gage Bozeman First Team Quarterback, Lane Brice First Team Cornerback, Edwin Bennett 2nd team Tight Center, Ethan Lyons 2nd team spread center, Lane Brice 2nd Team running back, JT Spurlin 2nd Team Offensive Utility Player, Ethan Lyons 2nd team Defensive Lineman, JT Spurlin 2nd Team Linebacker, Gage Bozeman 2nd Team Safety, JD Brice 2nd Team Defensive Utility Player,

Honorable Mention All-District were AJ Ford, Luke Eli, Jason Schwartz.


The JH Bobcats had a very successful season finishing the year with a record of 7-1.

The JH Bobcats only loss was to May 27-18. The JH Bobcats were district champs and were also undefeated in district play.  The JH Bobcats included 8th graders Ryan Blair, Hunter Martinez, Clay Scheller, Caleb Robinson, Carson Hudgens, Mac Cabrera, Cash Strawbridge. 7th Graders Seth Kelley, Nathan Shepherd and 6th graders Isaac King, Ty Strawbridge, Lucas Riley, Dylan Johnson, Jaren Beaver, Ryder Scheller.
