Newcastle Track Athletes Advance to Area
Courtney Spitzer and Girls 1600 Relay Team Win District!
April 12, 2010
The Newcastle Bobcats and LadyCats spent a beautiful spring day in Aspermont last week running and jumping their way to district medals! Five boys and five girls from Newcastle qualified for advancement while participating in the District 11-A track and field meet. The area track meet will be held Thursday, April 15th in Roby. This meet will be a much bigger challenge for the Bobcat and LadyCat tracksters because the bigger class A schools are thrown into this competition!
Courtney Spitzer was the lone individual champion (1:02.29) with a victory in the 400 meter dash! The LadyCat 1600 meter relay team (Tara Evans, Latisha Short, Kimberly Bell, and Courtney Spitzer) also took top district honors with a winning time of 4:22.77.
