LadyCats Back in the Playoffs vs. Petrolia!

Tuesday, November 3 @ 7:30 in Jacksboro

by Gordon Grubbs

October 30, 2009

The Newcastle LadyCats are limping back into the playoff scene after a year's hiatus.  The LadyCats lost their final district match (1-3) to a far inferior team in the Graford Lady Rabbits.  Coach Libby said, "It's never good to end your regular season with a loss and hopefully, the girls will regain their focus for a playoff run!  It's nice to be back in the playoffs and the girls have earned it."

The bidistrict playoff game will be against the Lady Pirates of Petrolia who finished third in a very tough district seven race with perennial volleyball powerhouse Windthorst and up-and-coming volleyball powerhouse, Archer City.  The LadyCats' game will be the second of a doubleheader in the brand spanking new Jacksboro High School gym.  The first game will be the Bowie Lady Jackrabbits and the Ladies from Peaster.  Sorry, I don't know their mascot.  LadyCat fans please be aware that the first game will cost $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.

Senior Tara Evans makes a kill in her final home game!

Our LadyCat game - the second game - will begin at 7:30 pm and the cost will be $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.  At this time we are not sure how they will price the games for those interested in watching both.

If the LadyCats win this bidistrict match Tuesday they will play the winner of district five, the Lady Dragons of Paducah, in Vernon on Thursday evening.  I'm not sure about the game time.

It was no fun last year not making the playoffs and the girls have worked hard to improve their game enough to return to the playoff picture.  Everyone should come out Tuesday, November 3rd to watch and support the LadyCats as they play their way up the conference 1A bracket toward a state championship!
