Bobcats and LadyCats Finish District Basketball Season

The Newcastle Bobcats and LadyCats are finishing up what seems like a very quick district basketball season. Perhaps it is because of the Bobcats extended football season deep into the playoffs, but it seems as if this basketball season was short!
The LadyCats ended a frustrating, illness/injury-plagued season with Graford Friday night with a 10 point loss that put the Lady Rabbits in the third place district slot for the playoffs. Seemed like every time the LadyCats gained some momentum during the season, someone was injured or got sick. I know it was frustrating for the girls and Coach Gooch. It's really tough losing close games to teams that you believe are beatable! But, here's the bottomline - even though coaches often have a hard time with this - regardless of the won-loss record these LadyCats are winners - winners in life! This team is full of sweet, smart girls who will be successful in each of their individual ways when they leave Newcastle School. Yes, it's hard to see their basketball season end on a losing note but, I assure you that the contributions they have made to the success of Newcastle High School will not be forgotten for a very, very long time. The 2011-12 LadyCats are now a part of the legacy of outstanding student athletes that call Newcastle home!
