NOTICE OF BOARD OF EDUCATIONREGULAR MEETING

Thursday, August 19, 2010 – 7:00 P.M.

Newcastle ISD Board Room

505 Washington Avenue Newcastle, Texas 76372

The subjects to be discussed or considered, or upon which any formal action may be taken, are as follows: (Items do not have to be taken in the same order as shown on the meeting notice.)

I. Call to Order

II. Announcement by chairman that a quorum is present, that the meeting has been duly called and that the notice of the meeting has been duly posted for time and manner as required by law.

III. Open Forum: Hearing of individuals and committees

IV. Hearing of appeals/grievances/complaints

V. Consent Agenda:

1. Minutes of previous meetings
2. Payment of bills
3. Statement of district operations
4. Summary of monthly tax collections
5. Monthly/Quarterly Investment Report including daily rates and earnings
6. Necessary amendments to budget

VI. Action Items:

1. Public Hearing on 2010-11 Proposed Budget and Tax Rate

2. Consider adoption of budget for 2010-11 school year. (Record Vote)

3. Consider ordinance for Maintenance & Operation tax rate for 2010-11 school year. (Record Vote)

VII. Discussion/Information Items

1. Report from 2010 District Accountability Summary
2. Update on New Assessment and Accountability Provisions
3. Information related to possible purchase of new/refurbished bus
4. Newcastle Heritage Foundation Fund Summary
5. Discussion of meeting to finalize end of year amendments

VIII. Closed Session: A closed session may be held under the provision of Texas Government Code, Chapter 551 including but not limited to Section 551.071, Section 551.072, Section 551.076, Section 551.082(a), and Section 551.083.

X. Adjournment

If, during the course of the meeting, any discussion of any item on the agenda should be held in closed meeting, the Board will conduct a closed meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Tex. Gov’t. Code, Chapter 551, Sub-chapters D & E.
