LadyCats Up and Down Against Harrold Lady Hornets
25-6; 25-22; 25-10
September 09, 2009
The Newcastle LadyCats have been playing some pretty good volleyball as they finish up their district warmup games but Tuesday night at the LadyCats gym the LadyCats played great, horrible and then pretty good again! Bottomline - they won the match in three straight games with some very consistant teamwork.
It was obvious from the start that the young Lady Hornet team was over matched against our LadyCats. The first game of the match was highlighted by serving stints of seven straight from Tara Evans, Courtney Spitzer, and six straight from Courtney Bailey. That's 20 points from only three girls serving! This game was also highlighted by the "dinkalicious" net play of Darcy Lewelling.
However, the second game was a whole different story. This game was much like the Bobcats football game against the Woodson Cowboys Friday night. If anything could go wrong, it did! This game was actually tied at 22 points each! The only adjective to describe this LadyCats' game is sluggish! I didn't think it was ever going to end and I know Coach Libby was beginning to sweat it just a little.
The third and final game was much better and the LadyCats seemed to be up again! This game was highlighted by some very effective overall team play. Each one of the LadyCats did their job and did it well. Haily Kramer and Tara Evans gave the LadyCat fans some excitement with some very hard, well placed hits at the net. The LadyCats got off to a fast start in this final game and the Lady Hornets just could never change the momentum.
The LadyCats are idle the rest of this week with their next game at home versus the LadyCats from Archer City next Tuesday, September 15th! Archer City is a tough, senior laden team that will present a real test for the Newcastle LadyCats.
